Radio Zamaneh/2010-02-16 - Women in Shroud, a documentary co-produced by Farid Haerinehad and Mohammadreza Kazemi, was nominated for the Cinema For Peace award, an annual initiative that promotes humanity through film. This is the first Iranian film ever nominated for this prize.

Women in Shroud documents the struggles of Iranian women’s rights activists fighting against discriminatory laws and their indefatigable efforts to rescue women sentenced to stoning. The 73-minute documentary challenges the discriminatory laws of Iran’s judicial system.

Women in Shroud was previously screened at the Canadian Senate on International Human Rights Day as well as the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam.

Cinema for Peace takes place on the sidelines of the Berlin International Film Festival to honour social and humanitarian achievements in the world of cinema. Its ninth annual events take place today, Monday February 15, at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
